Altriset - How it works

ALTRISET Termite Control Product was released in Australia in September 2011. It reportedly cost DuPont more than $250 million in costs to bring it to the Termite Control market.

There’s no other termite product like DuPont™ Altriset® termiticide. It took scientists at DuPont™ over 10 years to create a termiticide that not only delivers highly effective termite control, but with its very low toxicity, it has a revolutionary safety and environmental profile.

Altriset® is deadly to termites. Altriset® works by targeting termite muscles. When termites come into contact with Altriset® their jaw muscles become paralysed so they cease feeding and stop damaging your house within hours. But they don’t die straight away. The termites stay alive long enough to walk back to their nest to transfer Altriset® onto their mates. That means you don’t just kill the termites that are lurking around your home, you can control the termites back at the nest, so they don’t come back to scare you in the future. Altriset® eliminates termites from structures within 3 months and when applied to the soil around your home, continues to provide protection for years.

Altriset - Mode of action

When deciding what product to use to treat termites, you may wonder what effects the product may have on your family, your pets and the environment. Well, Altriset® is the first and only liquid termiticide that has been classed as an unscheduled poison by the Australian regulatory authorities, which is something other products can’t claim. As a result your pest manager doesn’t have to wear protective equipment (such as overalls, goggles or gloves) when mixing and applying the product – so don’t worry if they wander around your property in only short-sleeved shirts and shorts. This great safety profile not only applies to people, Altriset® has very low toxicity to pets, birds, fish, earthworms and even honey bees, which means you can protect your home with minimal impact on the environment.

Altriset - fluroescent termite imageWhat are your termite control options?

There are so many termite products on the market, it’s hard to pick between them until you know all the facts. Although most termite products say they can effectively control termites, they all work in different ways, contain different ingredients, and have different attributes to consider. The three main ways of protecting your home are:

1. Direct

Some termite products are applied directly onto termite activity via dusts or foams. This method can kill termites really quickly, but it doesn’t stop them coming back. Once the dust or foam wears off, termites are free to munch on your home once again. If a direct treatment is applied it should be as part of an overall treatment which involves a home perimeter treatment using a soil applied liquid termiticide. As DuPont™ Altriset® can be applied as a foam as well as a soil applied treatment, you get the immediate anti-feeding benefits of a direct Altriset® application as it goes to work controlling the infestation, plus you get the long lasting protection achieved with a soil application.

2. Baits

Termite baiting systems involve the placement of wood in feeding stations around the perimeter of the home. Termites moving towards the home are intercepted by the bait stations. Once termites start feeding on the wood, a control agent is added to the feeding station. Termites feeding on the wood carry the control agent back to the nest. The problems that can occur with this system are that termites may not be intercepted by the baits or there is too large a distance between the baits, meaning the termites may walk straight past the bait and onto your house. Even if they do consume the bait, it often takes months to control the problem – time you can ill afford.

3. Soil Applied Treatment

Soil treatments, which include a perimeter treatment around your home, are one of the most common and successful methods of termite control and protection. There are 2 types of soil treatments applied to the soil around and under your home – these are either repellent or non-repellent.  Repellent treatments are an older technology. These treatments do not kill those termites already attacking your home or kill the colony – so the problem isn’t eliminated and in fact the termites may find a gap in the treatment and still attack your home. Non-repellent treatments are a newer technology and are considered the preferred termite treatment. Since termites cannot detect these newer technologies, they come into contact with the treated soil around your home, picking up a lethal dose of the product. The best non-repellent products, such as Altriset®, also have properties which allow the termiticide to be shared with other termites and carry it back to their nest. As such, products such as Altriset® termiticide not only provide a barrier around your home which prevents termite entry, but they continually reduce termites in the area surrounding your home, giving you peace of mind that your most valuable asset is protected.  However, not all non-repellent products are the same – DuPont™ Altriset® termiticide delivers benefits that no other termite product can provide.

So don’t wait any longer. Protect your family and home. Reduce your environmental footprint.

Organic Pest Control BrisbaneTermidor-General

Termites Sunshine Coast

How does Termidor work?

Termidor moves only a small distance outward from the site of application before binding tightly to organic matter in the soil. This means that Termidor concentration decreases with increasing distance from the site.

Termites first come into contact with Termidor at the edge of the treated zone as they tunnel through the soil towards the home. At this point, the product is at its lowest concentration. Those termites that do not immediately continue tunnelling into the Termidor treated zone will survive long enough to transfer Termidor to others in the colony through normal feeding and grooming.

Transfer effect

  Termites Sunshine Coast

This unique Transfer EffectTM is devastating to other termites not directly exposed to the Termidor treated zone, and indeed may wipe out the entire colony. If termites continue to tunnel into the treated soil where Termidor concentration is higher, they will die more quickly. This means that Termidor is two termite treatments in one.

TermX. Logo

TermX has been designed as a simple system to deliver maximum results.  It comprises minimal components to eliminate the chances of product failure under use.  The TermX Replenishment System can be used to protect existing dwellings, new constructions, or any structure under threat from termite activity e.g. utility poles, fences, pergolas, etc.

The TermX Replenishment System has been designed by Australian’s to suit the harsh Australian conditions and termite pressures.  It has been extensively tested to offer long-term termite management and prevention and was stringently assessed to strict CodeMark Australia standards, which it has achieved.  Don’t settle for just any old system – why risk it on your most valued asset!

Drilling Chemicals - How it works

The TermX Replenishment System is a specially designed pipe system used to apply termiticide chemical under pressure to saturate the soil medium surrounding a structure.  This creates an impenetrable barrier (if repellent termiticides are used) or a death-trap for unsuspecting foraging termites (in the case of non-repellent termiticide chemicals) that move through impregnated soil.

TermX is a specially engineered system designed to deliver chemical termite treatments as a preventative measure for these pests.  A certified TermX installer lays a series of replenishment system around or underneath a structure.  At a later stage, chemical is pumped through the pipes to create a barrier of protection.  Your certified TermX installer can make recommendations on how often the system needs to be charged with chemical – this is dependant on the type of chemical used and the termite pressure in your area.  Once installed the system allows for quick application of a treatment to protect your most valued assets.

Termatrix

The TermatriX Termite Elimination system has been designed as professional termite elimination system installed by professional pest management companies who have undergone specific training in the identification and implementation of integrated pest management plans.

Termatrix is designed to attract and eliminate termites in a safe non-invasive way. The TermatriX termite Bait is a registered product under the requirements of legislation administered by the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority.

The TermatriX Termite Bait contains 1g/kg of Chlorfluazuron as the active constituent, which is about as toxic as table salt!). As termites feed and then travel back to the colony, they share termite bait with other nest mates (trophallaxis) and send other termites back to feed on the bait. As feeding on the bait continues and more and more termites are affected, the termite colony starts to die and is eliminated. The stages of colony elimination will be identified by the professional Pest Manager and will include; worker termites becoming creamish coloured (within first 2 weeks), lethargic worker termites (first 4 weeks), a larger number of soldier termites and increased fungi in the station (final stage of elimination).

What is Unique about the Termatrix termite Elimination System?

The latest research conducted by the CSIRO in Australia shows that termites are highly attracted to multiple food sources that contain large surface areas such as the combination found solely in the TermatriX Station design. The TermatriX stations contain 3 highly palatable food sources delivering the largest cellulose food attractant available in any baiting station found in the market. In addition, each station contains a unique highly palatable compressed cellulose attractant secured within a TAC (Termite Aggregation Cylinder) to make termite inspection sunshine coast quick, easy and less costly.
